“We did the best we could, and when we knew better, we did better”. This statement has always bothered me. Who’s responsibility is it to “know better”? The statement just seems like a cop-out to me. It seems to be used most often to describe parenting ability. It’s the most important job you will ever have. Why would you not do everything in your power to know as much as you can to be the best parent you can possibly be?
