Funny Faces

[singlepic id=127 w=460 float=]
This is my comic artist rendering ala Roy Lichtenstein of Tinker and Julie. Lichtenstein was a pop artist from the 60’s and 70’s who re-created comic book panels into painted art works. His style was very controversial, but his paintings sold for several million dollars in some cases. If you do a google image search using his last name you can view many of his pieces.

Shocking Statistic

I heard a statistic this morning that shocked me. 100,000 people die every year from hospital mistakes. That’s approximately 274 people every day. I was scared to go into a hospital before knowing this statistic. That fear just multiplied by 10.

Know Better

“We did the best we could, and when we knew better, we did better”. This statement has always bothered me. Who’s responsibility is it to “know better”? The statement just seems like a cop-out to me. It seems to be used most often to describe parenting ability. It’s the most important job you will ever have. Why would you not do everything in your power to know as much as you can to be the best parent you can possibly be?

Weight Loss = Failure

How many advertisements for weight loss products do we get thrown up in our faces on a daily basis? Pills, diets, kettle balls, ab devices, vitamin supplements, gym memberships, etc etc. They hit us from all sides. “30 days to the summer body of your dreams”. Television, magazines, newspapers, billboards, web sites and the sides of buses. Engaging in any type of fitness or eating program with the goal to lose weight is a sure way to failure. Why? Because it’s temporary. Health and fitness is not temporary. Health is with you until you die. You either have poor health or you have good health, but either way our health is something we all have and it needs to be taken care of all the time. Weight adjustments should only be viewed as a side effect of good health management.
